Representation by registered foreign lawyers in international arbitration and mediation: Study Group report

The Study Group on Representation by Registered Foreign Lawyers in International Arbitration and Other Issues, established by Japan’s Ministry of Justice and the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, of which the head of our international arbitration group Hiroyuki Tezuka was a member, published its report on September 25, 2018.

The report recommends that the Japanese government expand the scope of permissible representation by foreign lawyers in international arbitration in Japan, and clarifies the scope of permissible representation in international mediation, as part of a wider effort to promote international arbitration and mediation in Japan.
