Toshihiko Takeda joined Nishimura & Asahi

We are pleased to announce that Toshihiko Takeda has joined Nishimura & Asahi as an Advisor.

Toshihiko Takeda was born in Iwate Prefecture in 1959. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, School of Law in 1983, he joined the Ministry of Health and Welfare. He was later seconded to the Ministry of Finance's Budget Bureau, JETRO's New York office, and the Hokkaido Prefectural Office before being appointed as the Secretary to the Minister of Health and Welfare, Yuya Niwa, in 1999. As the Director of the National Health Insurance Division of the Health Insurance Bureau and the Director of the General Affairs Division of the Health Insurance Bureau, he was responsible for planning and managing the medical insurance system. Thereafter, as Counselor for Social Security, he led the integrated reform of social security and taxation alongside fiscal authorities. After being seconded to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications for two years as the Deputy Director-General of the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, he served as the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary (in charge of medical insurance), and Policy Chief (in charge of social security); and in 2016, he served as the Director General of the Pharmaceutical and Public Health Bureau, the Director General of the Medical Policy Bureau, and Policy Counselor of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. He is currently a visiting professor at Iwate Medical University, School of Medicine, a senior advisor to Boston Consulting Group, and the vice chairman of the Japan Alliance for Home Care.

Toshihiko Takeda will draw on his extensive experience and expertise to advise Nishimura & Asahi on a wide range of issues. We are certain that he will be a valuable addition to our firm.
