The Shanghai representative office is staffed by three Japanese lawyers, Takashi Nomura, Satoshi Tojo, and Seita Kinoshita, who have extensive experience in Chinese law and practice.
The Shanghai office has been devoted to successfully expanding businesses conducted by Japanese companies in China, including establishing new companies, business alliances and M&A transactions with Chinese companies, and working on finding solutions to a wide range of legal issues that Japanese companies frequently confront in the process of conducting their business operations in China — related mainly to corporate law, compliance matters, restructuring, IP, labor disputes, and crisis management.
Through our extensive global network, we have been engaging in cross-border transactions in various countries (and jurisdictions) across the globe for many years, including Japan, China and other Asian regions, in addition to the U.S., and Europe. The cooperation of Japanese and Chinese lawyers in the China Practice Team in Shanghai, Beijing, and Tokyo, along with the seamless collaboration with our other Japanese and overseas offices, and close ties with China’s leading law firms, enable us to provide comprehensive, first-class legal services in China.
As the largest law firm in Japan, we have accumulated a growing list of high profile clients and notable achievements in a wide variety of practice areas involving Japanese law. By collaborating with our Japan offices (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka), the Shanghai office is qualified and equipped to provide a full range of legal services regarding Japanese law for Chinese companies that plan to invest and develop their businesses in Japan, and any cross-border transaction involving Japanese companies.
