Nishimura & Asahi members participated in Charity Run and Walk DAN DAN RUN 2024

Reasons for sponsorship

The "Charity Run and Walk DAN DAN RUN" organized by DAN DAN RUN Executive Committee and supported by the Japan Association for Refugees (JAR) is a charity event that aims to support refugees in Japan.

JAR is the first association in Japan to provide comprehensive support to refugees seeking refuge in Japan, and we continue to support its activities as a pro bono activity.

We believe that JAR's activities are in line with our philosophy of realizing an affluent and fair society based on the "rule of law," and we agree with the purpose of this event and have been co-sponsoring it since 2022.

Volunteer members participate in the event every year. While enjoying the event, they learn about the current situation of refugee support and think about social contribution activities as something familiar to them.

This was my first time to participate in a charity run and walk, in this case, DAN DAN RUN 2024. I was blessed with fine weather (although it was a little hot to run) and had a great time.

Nine colleagues (plus children) participated in the event and enjoyed the 10km run, 5km run, walk, or parent-child run. I participated in the 5km run. It was the first time for me to meet the other members, so I was glad to have this opportunity to talk with them.

This event was basically a fun run, but I ran seriously. After the finish line, I shook hands with people who were running at the same pace as me, saying "nice run," and cheered on the participants while cooling down. The event organizing staff were also very friendly; at the end of the day, we had a commemorative picture taken with DAN DAN RUN flags. In relation to the purpose of the event, which was to support refugees, there was an announcement that refugees had been running with us, as well as an exhibition of refugee quizzes and explanations.

I hope to participate in the relay race next year, if possible. Thank you very much to all the organizers and JAR for giving us the chance to participate in such a nice event!

Thank you very much for your cooperation in sponsoring the DAN DAN RUN Charity Run & Walk and for participating in the event. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Nishimura & Asahi for its continued legal support.

It was very hot on the day of the event; nevertheless, I am very happy if the run/walk while enjoying the view of the Rainbow Bridge gave everyone the opportunity to think about refugee issues in Japan and about the people involved by touching on the issues surrounding refugees in Japan and support activities.

On June 10, 2024, the revised Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act came into effect, threatening the lives and security of refugees who have finally arrived in Japan and applied for refugee status, and creating a mountain of serious problems such as poverty due to the lack of a minimum standard of living economically. JAR is engaged in a wide range of activities to address a variety of issues, from providing assistance to individual refugees to advocating policies and public relations activities. Thanks to your support and interest, we have been able to realize these activities and expand them. I also heard that this was the first time for some participants from Nishimura & Asahi to participate in this event. We look forward to your continued support and interest, so that we may create great change together from the "first step". Thank you very much for your cooperation and participation.

Summary

Takeshi Nemoto Partner at Nishimura & Asahi

Through participating in this charity run and walk, some members of our firm learned for the first time about the current situation of refugees in Japan. We hope that this participation will be an opportunity for our firm and each individual to take a further step toward refugee support.
