Mock Trial Hosted for Foster Care Students by The Rotary Club of Tokyo Yamanote
Nishimura & Asahi (GKJ)’s Legal Education Team hosted a mock trial on June 15, 2024, as part of a work experience program for elementary and junior high school students living in foster care facilities. The event was organized by The Rotary Club of Tokyo Yamanote.
During the mock trial, students took on the role of judges and attorneys, and with the support of our attorneys, they were able to reach a verdict on a fictitious case with an animal theme.
Participants included Mariko Mimura, Kota Hoshina, Kae Gen, Yurara Hirayama, Asumi Kawachiya, Shuhei Sasayama, Haruka Sugimoto, Asako Joba (senior manager of the Executive Support Division), Naomi Mifuka (staff of the Pro Bono Committee), and Mai Imanishi (staff of the Cross Functional Transformation Division DE&I Promotion Team).
Mariko has strong expertise in pharmaceutical industry-focused practices, and she has advised on regulations, compliance, M&A, licensing, etc. She has also been involved in crisis management third-party investigation committees, and gave advice based on her extensive experience and knowledge acquired from her experience as one of the board members and management team of several pharmaceutical companies. She is also actively engaged in pro bono matters and in Diversity & inclusion promotional activities, as well as Business and Human Rights and ESG. She takes a leadership role as a core member of our firm’s D&I Promotion.
