Corporate AI Policy

Nishimura & Asahi has established the following guidelines for the use of AI, in order to outline proper use restrictions, and ensure proper implementation of AI use.

  • Confidentiality and protection of sensitive information
Information, including confidential information and information related to litigation, will be used only in secure, authorized AI systems vetted by the firm. Where censorship or redaction is required, it will be performed appropriately.
  • Human accountability and oversight
All lawyers and staff have complete responsibility and take full accountability, for review of documents generated using or with support from AI, including contracts and legal documents.
  • Clear scope of and prohibitions on use
Broadly speaking, the use of AI is limited to searches of publicly available information such as laws and regulations, summaries, and drafts. AI generated materials are not used directly to develop materials containing legal advice or litigation strategy. No confidential information will be used as input for AI systems that use machine learning.
  • Prevention of copyright infringement and third-party rights
We take great care to ensure that documents and images generated by AI do not pose a risk of copyright infringement.
  • Distinction from legal advice
AI output will be used solely for reference purposes and will not be used as “legal advice.”
  • Opt-out
Clients have the option to opt-out of AI use.
