Arbitration involving significant claims and its settlement concerning a joint venture between Japanese companies relating to power plant construction projects

Leading Japanese law firm Nishimura & Asahi represented our client in an arbitration involving claims for payment totalling 91 billion South African Rand (approx. USD 7.3 billion, at the time of filing of the request for arbitration) with respect to a joint venture between Japanese companies to engage in power plant construction projects. We advised our client on its settlement of the dispute, which resulted in our client receiving a monetary payment and the delivery to our client of all shares in the joint venture held by the other party.
