Life Science/Healthcare Practitioner Mariko Mimura joins Nishimura & Asahi
We are pleased to announce that Ms. Mariko Mimura, a member of the Board of Directors of GlaxoSmithKline K.K. until June 2018, joined Nishimura & Asahi as an Of Counsel on August 1, 2018.
Mariko worked at Nishimura & Partners (now Nishimura & Asahi) from 1995 to 2004 and specialized in intellectual property, business turnarounds, M&A, litigation, and general corporate work. She was Executive Officer/Legal Executive Manager of GE Healthcare Japan Corporation from 2005 to 2009 and Director and Legal and Intellectual Property Executive Manager of Novartis Holding Japan K.K. from 2010 to 2015, where her expertise in pharmaceutical affairs, intellectual property, M&A, risk management, labor, litigation and other general corporate matters contributed to the management of both domestic and foreign legal issues at the company.
Mariko is expected to make a significant contribution to our firm as a leading member of our Life Science/Healthcare practice group, using her considerable knowledge and years of experience at international pharmaceutical and medical-equipment companies.
Profile of Mariko Mimura
Mariko has strong expertise in pharmaceutical industry-focused practices, and she has advised on regulations, compliance, M&A, licensing, etc. She has also been involved in crisis management third-party investigation committees, and gave advice based on her extensive experience and knowledge acquired from her experience as one of the board members and management team of several pharmaceutical companies. She is also actively engaged in pro bono matters and in Diversity & inclusion promotional activities, as well as Business and Human Rights and ESG. She takes a leadership role as a core member of our firm’s D&I Promotion.
