eBooks Production Volunteer Initiative: Distributing Digital Books to Children With Visual Impairments and Difficulty Reading

We are participating in the eBooks Production Volunteer initiative to learn more about responsible business and equity. This program will distribute digital books to children who have difficulty reading due to visual impairments or children with developmental difficulties.

Recruiting volunteers began in September 2024. For a duration of about four months, approximately 75 lawyers and staff members transcribed the text for audio books. These books will be published in an online e-library called "Chatty Library," run by the non-profit organization Science Accessibility Net. 

We were introduced to this initiative through HP Japan. At the volunteer briefing session, HP Japan gave insights into the benefits, impact, and enjoyment that this project has brought. This drew many volunteers from Japan and abroad, who participated in transcribing the text for audiobooks.
