TrustLaw Awards 2020: Pro bono nomination

Nishimura & Asahi has been nominated for the Innovation Award at the TrustLaw Awards 2020.

TrustLaw is the corporate foundation of Thomson Reuters Foundation, London, UK. Its annual awards celebrate remarkable pro bono projects undertaken by legal teams across the globe. This year’s winners will be announced virtually on November 5th.

Nishimura and Asahi’s nomination is for our pro bono work for Mobile Seat Otters (MSO), a non-profit organization that seeks to restore deteriorating kelp forests along Japan’s coastline. Partner Takeshi Nemoto advised MSO on the legal aspects of recruiting volunteer divers to remove excess sea urchins, which denude kelp forests, leading to the depletion of marine life.

We are privileged to be able to contribute our legal expertise to such a worthwhile cause, and are honored to be nominated for the Innovation Award.
