IFLR Rising Stars Awards Asia-Pacific 2022

We are pleased to announce that Hiroshi Yagi, Yoko Kasai and Yuki Taguchi were awarded at the Rising Stars Awards Asia-Pacific 2022 by IFLR (International Financial Law Review), recognizing the achievements of emerging leaders in the practice of law.

Hiroshi Yagi specializes in corporate crisis management cases, a form of white collar criminal defense cases, where he has engaged in factual investigations, negotiated and communicated with various parties including relevant authorities, mass media, investors, business partners and consumers, and developed preventative measures.
 
 Hiroshi Yagi has handled various litigations, including those which follow crisis management cases. He has also advised on the establishment of effective compliance programs as well as various general corporate matters.

Yoko’s practice focuses on representation of life sciences and technology companies that develop and market pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines, diagnostics, medical devices, and digital health products. She specializes in corporate transactions involving complex intellectual property and pharmaceutical regulatory issues, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and asset transfers. In addition, she counsels clients on matters involving research and development collaborations, clinical trials, technology licensing, supply and distribution agreements, and co-promotion arrangements. She also advises clients in connection with privacy and personal data protection matters.

As a core member of our acquisition finance practice, Yuki regularly advises private equity funds and major companies (as borrowers) and banks, leasing companies and mezzanine funds (as financers) on M&A transactions. He also advises asset managers and financial institutions on fund formation, fund investment, subscription finance, and other day-to-day issues. He frequently serves as counsel to arrangers and originators in structured finance transactions, primarily those involving securitization of receivables and other assets. His extensive knowledge of his clients’ businesses and relevant financial regulations enables him to offer practical, well-balanced regulatory advice, including advice on the Financial Instruments Exchange Act and the Banking Act of Japan.
