Mr. Yusuke YUKAWA has been stationed in Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar, since January 2013. As the representative of the Yangon office of Nishimura & Asahi, which opened in May 2013, Mr. Yukawa has been providing a wide range of legal advice mainly to Japanese clients seeking to invest in Myanmar and those already established therein.
Mr. Yukawa has extensive experience in various business sectors as well as numerous legal practice areas, which include legal research on foreign direct investment regulations, the incorporation of companies, obtaining investment permits from the Myanmar Investment Commission and the Thilawa Special Economic Zone Management Committee, drafting and negotiating joint venture agreements between local partners (both public and private), due diligence, negotiation with major ministries in Nay Pyi Taw, the consummation of share transfer transactions and labor matters.
Mr. Yukawa has developed a vast network in Myanmar through his pro bono work such as assisting law reform projects led by the Japanese government, conducting surveys on local legal systems, delivering lectures at the University of Yangon, and serving as a core member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Myanmar.
