The European Union (EU) is a supranational institution established by European countries that delegate part of their sovereignty to the EU in order to ensure the free movement of goods, services, people, and capital within the European region. The EU introduces supernational regulations within the scope of the delegated authority, and such regulations greatly affect all countries worldwide in modern society. For example, the data protection regulations and environmental regulations introduced by the European Commission affect all countries. In addition, Japanese companies continue to be affected by cartel investigations, corporate merger reviews, and investigations of trade remedy measures such as anti-dumping duties in European countries.
For the purpose of dealing with various problems related to EU law and legal issues arising in EU member countries, Nishimura & Asahi, which has people with experience working in Belgium, where the European Commission is located, or in major EU member countries such as Germany and France, constantly follows up on regulatory trends in Europe, and thereby provides legal services as solutions for legal issues that arise and affect Japanese companies in the region, including legal advice on the acquisition of companies in the EU or EU member countries and public comments on new EU regulations.
