Nishimura & Asahi advised a financial institution that was a major creditor in the corporate reorganization proceedings of Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. (JDC), the only offshore drilling contractor in Japan, and Japan Drilling (Netherlands) B.V., a subsidiary of JDC, both before and after the commencement of proceedings.

Shinsuke has been involved in a number of Restructuring & Insolvency cases such as Out-of-Court Workouts, Civil Rehabilitation, Corporate Reorganization, Bankruptcy and Early Stage Restructuring as an agent or a legal advisor of our clients in various positions such as debtors, creditors, and sponsors. He also handles M&A, disputes and general corporate cases including those related to or derived from Restructuring & Insolvency cases. He was seconded to the Financial Services Agency of Japan from 2013 through 2015 and engaged in amendment of the Deposit Insurance Law and other related laws and regulations. Therefore, he has expertise in financial regulation, especially that related to recovery and resolution of financial institutions. Based on these experiences and knowledge, he provides sincere and accurate legal support in accordance with the needs and positions of our clients.
Since becoming an attorney-at-law, I have been consistently engaged in bankruptcy and business revitalization practices. In legal arrangements, I have not only fulfilled the duties of a trustee, supervisor, etc., and been involved as a debtor's agent, but have also provided advice to creditors and sponsors that makes full use of such experience. Beyond legal liquidation, I have a reputation for taking the lead in restructuring in the early stages of the process, as well as Out of Court Informal Workouts. In recent years, I have also expanded my sphere of activity into the field of sports practice.
