Aspects of Contemporary International Business Law: Business Frameworks for the SDGs
Tokyo associate Yusuke Hatakeyama wrote an article for Aspects of Contemporary International Business Law: Business Frameworks for the SDGs, titled "Enhancing Economic Security through the SDGs: Critical Mineral Supply Chains and Key Infrastructure."
His article explores the role that the SDGs, as a form of international soft law (being non-binding), can play in global governance and, building on this, how they can contribute to economic security by strengthening global supply chains of critical minerals and promoting infrastructure development in developing countries. Specifically, it identifies key SDG targets related to human rights as well as social and environmental sustainability that require attention within critical supply chains. It also highlights the need for debt sustainability to foster sustainable infrastructure in developing countries.
