Thailand Launched Integrated D-VAT & SBT Digital System

On 1 September 2025, the Thai Revenue Department (“TRD”) officially launched the “D-VAT & SBT System,” a fully digital platform that consolidates all of the processes relating to Value Added Tax (VAT) and Specific Business Tax (SBT). This initiative represents a major step in Thailand’s tax digitalization strategy and is designed to enhance the taxpayer experience while streamlining compliance.
The new platform brings all aspects of tax payments into a single system. Taxpayers are able to complete registrations, update or amend details, file tax returns, request refunds, and receive refunds through one end-to-end digital interface. The system was developed with a taxpayer-centric approach, using Design Thinking methodology, and was tested with pilot user groups to ensure functionality and ease of use. Accessibility is a core feature; taxpayers can manage obligations “anywhere, anytime, on any device.”

Key Features of the System

  1. Integrated coverage: registration, amendments, applications, filings, and refunds all on one platform.
  2. User-driven design: simplified processes and streamlined interfaces, designed in response to feedback from taxpayers.
  3. Agile development: ongoing system improvements will be rolled out incrementally.
  4. Enhanced accessibility: online access across devices, reducing the need for in-person interactions.
