Nishimura & Asahi’s professionals have represented their clients in various insurance-related disputes, including disputes involving D&O insurance, product liability insurance, and E&O insurance.

Our firm deals with a number of disputes relating to corporate insurance such as D&O insurance, PL insurance and E&O insurance. Innovative legal issues or interpretation of insurance policies, not largely utilized in Japan, sometimes become the main issues in these disputes. In such cases, we collaborate with our network of foreign lawyers and analyze the issues, taking into account decisions in foreign countries regarding the same issues, and as a result have accumulated front-line experience in this area. In addition, it is indispensable in insurance related disputes to analyze insureds’ liability to which insurance applies (such as liability under PL Law of an insured of PL insurance, and liability against a customer of an insured of E&O insurance) and expert knowledge regarding a variety of areas such as finance, construction, engineering, medical science and pharmaceutical science is necessary in addition to insurance law and the interpretation of insurance policies.
