Supporting our community: Study session, guidance on legal careers, and roundtable discussion at Saitama Prefectural Urawa Girls' Upper Secondary School

Since 2022, Nishimura & Asahi (GKJ)’s Legal Education Team has been providing ongoing support for an inquiry-based cross-disciplinary study by second-year students.

In 2024, 11 lawyers; Kazuyoshi Furusumi, Shigeru Sasaki, Takeshi Nemoto, Mariko Mimura, Takahiro Kato, Shiori Komatsu, Sun Lee, Megumi Miyano, Sakito Muraishi, Haruka Sugimoto, and Tomohiro Tsushima, have been providing support for this program throughout the year.

On June 18, some of these lawyers visited the school to provide face-to-face advice and career guidance at a roundtable discussion.

The career guidance session was moderated by Shiori Komatsu. During the session Kazuyoshi Furusumi, Shigeru Sasaki, Takeshi Nemoto, Sun Lee, Sakito Muraishi, and Haruka Sugimoto shared their experiences on topics like how to become a lawyer, the work they do as lawyers, and how they balance life and work demands.

At the end of the presentation, the students asked questions enthusiastically.
We hope this guidance will help these students consider their future careers and help increase the number of women who choose to become legal professionals in Japan.
