Supporting our community: Study session, guidance on legal careers and panel discussion on women’s empowerment at Saitama Prefectural Urawa Girls' Upper Secondary School

On October 3, 2023, Nishimura & Asahi (GKJ)’s Legal Education Team supported an inquiry-based cross-disciplinary study of 2nd-year students, including career guidance for students across all grades, at Saitama Prefectural Urawa Girls' Upper Secondary School in Japan.
Participants from N&A included Mariko Mimura, Shigeru Sasaki, Takeshi Nemoto, Sayo Eto, Rasa Kato, Yusuke Mizuno, Shuhei Sasayama, Ryuto Mishima, Haruka Sakaki, Kazuki Tokuhashi, Shiori Komatsu, Mari Matsuyama, Kae Gen, and Serika Matsuoka, and staff members, who are all alumni of the school, Asako Joba (D&I Promotion Div.), Eriko Sakai (Legal Assistance Dept.), and Junko Fuse (Professional Assistance Dept.) .
In the career guidance session, Rasa Kato, Shiori Komatsu and Mari Matsuyama shared their experiences on topics such as how to become a lawyer, the work they do as lawyers, and how they balance life and work demands.
At the end of the presentations, the students enthusiastically asked questions.
We hope that the guidance will help these students in considering future careers and help increase the number of women aiming to become legal professionals in Japan.
