No. 2: Building an Effective Whistleblowing System
In the previous issue, we discussed common types of internal fraud in Vietnam as well as the importance of an appropriate “initial response.” In Vietnam, internal fraud is often uncovered through whistleblowing reports or tips provided by business partners. A whistleblowing system functions as an internal “early warning system” that can expose misconduct, unethical behavior, or weaknesses in internal rules and controls. If properly designed and operated, the system enables companies to activate their own self-correcting mechanisms before issues escalate to a point that causes major losses or serious legal exposure.
