Provisions on Promoting and Regulating Cross-border Data Flows
Tokyo partner Cuiping Zhang and Tokyo counsel Masashi Shiga authored an article titled “China Business Q&A: The Provisions on Promoting and Regulating Cross-border Data Flows,” which was published in the Japan-China Economic Journal No. 373 (Jan. 25, 2025, edition) by the Japan-China Economic Association.
The Provisions on Promoting and Regulating Cross-border Data Flows came into force on March 22, 2024, thereby significantly easing the procedures for the cross-border transfer of personal data from within China. This article provides an overview of the relaxed regulations and their impact on companies in a Q&A format.
